01
Acceptance of terms
By installing or using PromoProof (“the Service”), you agree to these terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for that business.
If you do not agree with these terms, do not install the Service, and uninstall it if it is already installed.
The Service is provided by an independent developer (“we”, “us”), reachable at info@promoproof.app.
02
Description of the service
PromoProof reads the discounts configured in your Shopify store, explains them in plain language, checks their configuration for inconsistencies, and — where the promotion type allows — tests them by building real carts through Shopify’s Storefront Cart API and comparing what it predicted against what Shopify returned.
The Service does not:
- create orders or take payments;
- change inventory;
- create, edit, or delete your discounts;
- modify anything else in your store.
It is a read-and-observe tool. It reports findings; every decision about what to change remains yours.
03
Shopify integration
The Service operates as a Shopify app and depends on Shopify’s APIs. Your use of Shopify is governed by your own agreement with Shopify, which these terms do not alter.
PromoProof is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Shopify Inc.
Because the Service depends on Shopify’s APIs, changes to those APIs, or interruptions to them, can affect what the Service is able to test or whether it is able to run at all.
04
Merchant responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- the discounts and promotions configured in your store;
- reviewing PromoProof’s findings and deciding what, if anything, to change;
- making those changes yourself — the Service has no ability to make them for you;
- keeping your Shopify account secure, and using the Service only on stores you are authorised to administer;
- not attempting to interfere with the Service, circumvent its plan limits, or use it to place load on Shopify beyond ordinary use of the product.
05
Test results and their limits
A PromoProof result describes what happened in a specific test, at a specific time, with a specific cart. It is evidence about that test. It is not a warranty about every possible cart a customer might build.
The four result levels mean the following, and nothing more:
- PASS — in the scenarios tested, the observed discount matched the predicted discount.
- REVIEW — the behaviour is valid and matches the configuration, but is worth confirming as intentional. It is not a defect.
- PROBLEM — a test produced behaviour conflicting with the promotion’s configuration.
- NOT TESTED — the promotion could not be verified reliably. This is the absence of a result, not a negative one.
A PASS on the scenarios tested does not guarantee that no problem exists in an untested scenario. Store configuration, product catalogue, markets, and Shopify’s own behaviour can all change after a test was run.
The Service is a quality-control aid. It does not replace your own review of your promotions.
06
Unsupported promotion types
Some promotion types cannot currently be verified reliably and are reported as not tested. At the time of writing these include: Buy X Get Y discounts, free shipping discounts, discounts restricted to customer segments, app- or Function-backed discounts, and behaviour specific to markets other than your store’s primary market.
Carts are built in your store’s primary market, and market-specific pricing is not varied. Stores with very large numbers of discounts or products may have their catalogue truncated for testing purposes.
This list may change as the Service develops. The current behaviour is always what the app itself reports for a given promotion.
07
No guarantee of business outcomes
PromoProof makes no prediction or promise about revenue, conversion rate, sales, margins, traffic, or customer behaviour. It has no knowledge of these and makes no claim about them.
It does not optimise pricing, recommend discount strategy, or guarantee that a promotion will perform in any particular way. Improvement tips shown inside the app are suggestions about configuration clarity only, never predictions about commercial results.
08
Billing and plans
The Service offers a free trial and paid plans. Each plan sets how many promotion checks you may run and how often a full store check may be performed. Limits are enforced by the Service.
Shopify Billing is not yet connected. Selecting a plan changes your limits and takes no payment. Prices shown are what a plan is intended to cost once billing is enabled. When billing is enabled, charges will be made through Shopify’s billing system and subject to Shopify’s billing terms, and you will be asked to approve the charge before it applies.
The free trial’s allowance counts every check a shop has ever run. Moving to a paid plan starts that plan’s allowance fresh.
We may change plan prices or limits. Changes affecting a plan you are already paying for will be notified before they take effect.
09
Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, interface, and documentation, belongs to us and is protected by intellectual property law. These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service while your installation is active.
Your store’s data — your discounts, products, and the results generated from them — remains yours. You may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer, or create a competing product from the Service.
10
Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, upstream changes to Shopify’s APIs, and faults can all cause downtime.
We may add, change, or remove features. Where a change materially reduces what the Service does, we will make that clear rather than let it pass unannounced.
11
Disclaimer
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will detect every problem with a promotion, that its results will be free of error, or that it will be compatible with every promotion configuration Shopify permits.
12
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost sales, or loss of data, arising out of your use of the Service.
This includes losses said to arise from acting on a result, from a problem the Service did not detect, or from a promotion behaving differently in production than in a test.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the total amount you have paid us for the Service. Where you have paid nothing — during the free trial, or while billing is not yet connected — that limit is zero.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13
Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling it from your Shopify store. Uninstalling ends your access and begins the data removal described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate access where these terms are breached, where use of the Service places undue load on our systems or Shopify’s, or where we are required to do so by law or by Shopify.
14
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent substantive change. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
